Hi everyone aaron here for techojune and this past week has been packed full of news and so let's go over what we missed this
past week up till today and the first thing is Phil Schiller is stepping down as head of marketing he's been in charge of marketing for a very long time he's done a fantastic job but now Greg Joswiak is taking over or Joz as they call him and so he'll be taking over
and phil schiller will become an apple fellow basically an alumni that can i think have some input into some of the marketing and help the transition if they haven't already Joz has been working on this for quite some time i think and phil has probably been helping him from some time anyway the next thing is Tim Cook is now well a billionaire
according to apple stock so he's now worth over a billion dollars whether or not he takes any of that out is up to him of course but technically he has that much money at this point now as far as ios 14 while ios 14 and mac os big sur have a great new security feature built in called domain bound sms
codes for two-factor authentication so maybe you're in an application or a website for example say apple.com and you want to sign in and it says i need to text you a code well that text code will be tied back to apple.com so that it will only input automatically as long as it recognizes it's the correct website it's just an extra layer of
security to prevent against things such as malicious attacks and just to keep it a little bit more private so i'm glad they're doing that it's great to see those additional features now apple news also has a new feature within ios 14 and that is a new feature called open web links in news so no longer do you need to leave apple news to read a web link it will actually do it right from within the news app and you can just read it here
instead of going back to say safari to do that or whatever your default browser is of course like you saw here it's a a setting so you can turn it on or off it's on by default it looks like but you can turn it off if you'd like now like i said last week iphone 12 will be delayed a few weeks according to apple but it looks like foxconn who produces the
iphone for apple is ramping up their hiring for iphone production so what that means is basically it's finalized of course the cameras probably won't look like this but we've got our finalized sizes our finalized oled displays and it looks like they're going to ramp up
production and have millions ready by the time they're ready to launch just like normal but that always takes time and speaking of iphone 12 production it looks like the iphone 12 display has been leaked at least one of them it could be any specific size we don't know but it looks like it's an oled it's also
appearing to have the same notch that we have now on all the iphones so that's what made me a little suspect is we thought the notch was supposed to be a little bit smaller but maybe it's the same on certain models and not all since this is just one front display that was leaked by mr white now ming chi quo says the iphone 12 lens supplier for the cameras here is apparently having some
issues with low yields meaning that they're not getting the quality or maybe they're cracking and they don't really meet up or match up to what apple would expect from the lens that goes over the camera quo says that it's not going to delay the actual
production of iphone 12 because there's other suppliers that apple can fall back on until they get things moved up but again this sort of hints at apple doing a two-step rollout of the iphones maybe the lower-end iphone 12s and then the higher-end pro models later on so it means they'd start rolling them out and then maybe a few weeks later we'd be able to purchase the pro and pro max model so that wouldn't surprise me again i
mentioned that before and we saw that with the iphone 8 8 plus and iphone 10 rollouts the 8 and 8 plus came first and then the 10. now also with the iphone 12 or just iphone in general apparently it looks like wechat may be banned eventually in the united states if that actually happens that could affect
production incredibly throughout the world meaning that if you can't use wechat which is heavily used in china well the phones may not sell as well so it could hurt up to 30 percent of sales according to ming chi quo but it's hard to say if that will actually happen of course that's i think 60 or 90 days out but if it is banned it definitely could affect sales in the future of iphones and then finally
here's some interesting photos that was leaked by everything apple pro on twitter and you can see that the next iphone may have a ring of magnets inside and that may help it to be aligned to a wireless charging pad so you would put it down it would help align it and then it would charge and so it looks like it was not only built into the back of the
phones but also a case that apple's going to sell to help it better align so that makes a lot of sense if they're going to release their own charger with a ring of magnets inside to help it snap in place and charge maybe that's the problem they were having with air power and then they wouldn't have the alignment problem by using magnets and it would just snap into place that seems like a reasonable way to figure out that problem they were having and secure your device to any
charger too so it doesn't just slide off now there's some interesting patents that leaked showing some convex displays on an iphone basically apple is exploring making the display convex so it slopes up and away from the phone and maybe could be a ring of glass around the whole device now again this is apple exploring different possibilities and so we may see something like this in the future and it would be really interesting to see that but we're never sure if apple's actually going to produce it it's just
interesting to see that they're working on things like this based off their patents now a bad piece of news if you're an xbox fan is project xcloud will not be coming to the phone now if you're not familiar with this this is basically a way to stream games to your phone and play them with an xbox controller on your device the samsung note 10 can do this and will be one of the first devices to be able to do that and unfortunately due to
apple's policy on the app store they're not going to allow it so basically what they would have to do is allow the app and then approve every app within that app and apple just isn't willing to do that and neither is microsoft at this point so it looks like that's going to have to wait hopefully they can work it out and we'll have something like that in the future but right now that's not going to be possible now on iphone there's another interesting thing if you're using ios 13 or 14 and that is in japan you now have look around so let's go into maps and if you go into tokyo japan this is available in tokyo osaka kyoto and nagoya and if we go in here maybe we'll go to this point right here if you have these
binoculars you can look around so you tap on look around we'll expand this and now you can look around the city so this is available in certain cities in the united states and now it's available in other cities within japan so hopefully it comes to more places throughout the world it's great to see this and you can see you just move move
through it like you're driving it's nice and smooth and so it's nice to see that added now in regards to ios 14 beta 5 i know a lot of people want to know when that's coming out and based on what apple has done before you can see all of the dates here it probably will be next week if they continue to do what they did with ios 12 and ios 13. now there's no guarantee of this apple could change it they could release it in a few
minutes if they want to but based on what they've done before we'll probably see it next week but if it's this week of course i'll keep you updated along with any updates that come out for say apple watch and speaking of apple watch it looks like apple watch is eventually going to go to micro led i thought it'd be already at micro led this coming year it may take three to four years for that to
actually materialize so apple is planning to bring micro led to their macbooks and also their iphones but for now it will have to wait on the watch at least a few years now with the macbook air there's another image of a battery for an upcoming macbook air going through certifications again and what this could be for is for an apple silicon based macbook later this year would be great to see apple's new hardware running on a new macbook air with a new battery that would last all day so this is just another image of those batteries and then also last tuesday apple released a new imac with 10 core cpus a nano coated display option for
anti-reflectivity and also you can still upgrade the ram easily by yourself on the 27-inch model for those of you waiting for maybe a new apple silicon based imac well here's what they could look like according to daniel batista who made some imac concepts i think it's great looking i would love to see an imac that looks like this and hopefully we'll see that in the future but if you really don't need a new imac and you want to see what the next one looks like it may be a couple
years but hopefully we'll have a thinner one running apple silicon hardware and it will just be thinner like that ipad that we currently have with the ipad pro and that's what the next rumored one is supposed to look like so i think it would be great to see that sort of concept now finally apple released a new 30 watt power adapter for 49 why they released it it has a new build number i'm not sure but it's a new build it's a new part and it's
available now if you'd like to get your hands on it and you want to fast charge your iphone your ipad and you can even use it to charge a mac if you need it and that's it for this week not a ton new but there's some interesting news about iphone 12
Thank you for reading
